Player of the year finalists
Layney Molini
Oologah |Forward | Junior
Oologah had never experienced the thrill of a state soccer title prior to 2024. But with Molini leading the way, the Mustangs collected their first gold ball on the pitch. And Molini was a wizard on offense. The junior striker was nearly unstoppable with 44 goals scored and 14 assists for a team that logged at least four goals in 14 of the 19 games the Mustangs played. The Texas Tech commit was also named Oologah’s most valuable player, to go along with All-District honors and the Golden Boot Award.
Kynlie Wilson
Owasso |Forward| Senior
The Oklahoma State signee left a lasting impression during her final varsity season with the Rams, scoring 14 goals and recording 12 assists. The Rams capped the season at 13-3, and lost a heartbreaking 1-0 game to Edmond North in the 6A quarterfinals. Over the course of three seasons at Owasso, Wilson finished with 37 goals scored and 25 assists.
Berkley Zahn
Holland Hall|Forward, Midfielder | Senior
A repeat finalist for the All-World awards, Zahn picked up where she left off in her junior campaign, carrying the Dutch to a 5A state championship in 2024. Holland Hall capped a 17-2 season with a 4-2 victory over Pryor in the state title game, where Zahn capped her varsity career with two assists. Zahn finished the season with 18 goals and seven assists, and she rounded out her high school career with 73 goals and 28 assists (in three seasons). “Berkley is a true goal scorer,” Holland Hall coach Troy Tokarchik said.
Coach of the year
Sam Bowers | Oologah
After retiring from Owasso, he wasn’t expecting to coach this season, but was hired by Oologah in October and led the Mustangs to a 17-2 record and their first state soccer title. It was his second state championship – his other was 28 years ago with Catoosa. He has the second-most wins in state high school soccer history with a record of 468-114-82 in 33 seasons – trailing his high school coach John Timmons. Bowers is a six-time All-State coach.
