Destiny 2: The Final Shape has dozens of hidden quests and collectibles for Guardians to find within the Pale Heart of the Traveler. One of the easier items to find are lost Ghosts, a key part of Micah-10's quest line. Once you complete the Final Shape campaign, she will start to give out quests where you must find these lost Ghosts.

Completing these quests not only unlocks the rest of the Pale Heart weapons, but it's also your main source of Light Vestiges, a currency needed to unlock a few Prismatic Fragments. This guide will explain how to start the final part of her quest chain, "Alone in the Dark," alongside a short quest walkthrough and reward breakdown.

How To Unlock Alone In The Dark

"Alone in the Dark" is tied to Micah-10's series of quests. You'll be able to access her inventory upon completing the Final Shape campaign. Speak with Micah in the Lost City to start her quest chain "The Message." Complete all of these quests, and you should be able to start the "Alone in the Dark" quest from Micah-10.

Unlike most quests, "Alone in the Dark" is a repeatable quest with six permutations. The quest structure is the same in all variants, although the destinations you visit will vary. Find the lost Ghost, play Overthrow, clear out a hidden area filled with Cysts, then return to the Lost City. Each completion of this quest will award Pale Heart weapons. This is also your main source of Vestiges of Light, a currency needed to unlock certain Prismatic Fragments.

Find The Lost Ghost

Your first main objective in this quest is to locate a lost Ghost somewhere in the Pale Heart. The Ghost's location is shown as a small circle on the Pale Heart map, usually within a Lost Sector. Make your way to the location and search the nearby area for the Ghost shell. It'll have a bright orange glow.

Open Overthrow Chests

Now that you've found the Ghost, you'll need to cleanse the nearby area of corruption before you can attack the source of the malignant growth. Travel to a nearby patrol zone and farm the Overthrow activity. Each encounter you complete in Overthrow will spawn a reward chest that will slowly complete this step. The higher the Overthrow tier, the more progress you'll earn.

Clear The Cyst

The quest will now mark a location in the Pale Heart and ask you to follow the Traveler's guidance. Track the quest on your map, then follow the waypoint on your HUD. It will lead you to a bird created out of pure Light that will guide you towards the correct path. Should you get lost, a marker will appear beside the bird after a few seconds. Simply follow the bird until you reach the destination.

Most of the nearby cysts originate from a remote cave or dungeon that's off the beaten path. The bird will take you just outside the cave, but it will be locked off by Hive runes seen in the likes of Pit of Heresy. Look around for Hive runes you can shoot. They must be destroyed in the same order as the lock. If done correctly, the entrance will open up. Head inside and clear the area out.

Each version of "Alone in the Dark" will take you to a different cave:

• Sword Dance Cyst: Wield a Hive Sword to destroy immune Hive enemies. Kill three Lucent Hive to restore the Ghost.
• Searing Light Cyst: Avoid a burning annihilator totem as you battle an Ascendant Knight.
• Aerial Ace Cyst: Defeat a Taken Wizard without touching the ground.
• Moth-Infested Cavern: Clear out a cavern filled with Lucent Moths.
• Slayer Cyst: Defeat a massive Hive Ogre inside a small cave.
• Smothering Darkness Cyst: Defeat the Hive without sprinting or using your jump ability.

Quest Rewards

Completing this quest will reward one weapon from the Pale Heart loot pool. If you haven't collected the full set of weapons yet, we recommend you complete the full set of "Alone in the Dark" quests to unlock them all. The cyst caves are also a good source of Ghost Reputation and Traveler's Blessing modifiers.

More importantly, the cyst caves are the only source of Light Vestiges in the Pale Heart. Every enemy in the cave has a small chance of dropping a Light Vestige. Majors and bosses seem to drop vestiges more frequently. Collect five Light Vestiges to forge a memory, allowing you to pinpoint the location of a Prismatic Fragment chest.
