"Industry wants the transition in The Netherlands to succeed. The potential is there. Now it's up to vision and policy to maximize investments in sustainability. Not only to maintain and to green industry but also for our economic and geopolitical position." ERC looks forward to hearing more from VNCI Chair Nienke Homan during our upcoming event Matching Energy Supply and Demand for Industry in June 4 at NBC Nieuwegein. For more information and registration: https://lnkd.in/ebNEDY_F

Great article with a valid conclusion:The INEOS case is the proof in the eating of the EU "Green transition" pudding. If industry is not allowed to invest in a chemical process that in its kind is the most sustainable ever built in Europe, emitting lessthan half of the 10 percent best performers in its category; The installation will be ready to run entirely on green hydrogen and will therefore be completely climate neutral in the future ..... if that is not possible, if our regulation blocks such investments, we will see no green growth but European de-industrialisation with all related consequences. Conclusion:"Pick your fights!Choose clear priorities and choose an ambitious, but realistic path, together with the industry and companies←. So that they can continue to do what they are good at: innovating, and →creating jobs and prosperity."

Dutch Environmental Assessment Agency PBL reviewed the party programs for the Dutch elections and identified a "real risk" of 'carbon leakage' with several parties (up to 18 megatons or close to 1/2 of Dutch industrial emissions!). PBL even explicitly cautions that this could lead to a global increase in GHG emissions. For industry to achieve #NetZero in 2050 (or sooner), governments need to implement smarter policies at the EU level. After all, reducing global emissions should be the primary objective. No one should feel good about not pushing industry out of the EU if it doesn't help our climate.

The energy transition (narrative) helps the Port of Rotterdam to bring more and more profits to the municipality of Rotterdam & Dutch government, keep multinationals in, and stay globally competitive. So what that the solutions are rather ineffective? For Vers Beton, I analysed who’s responsible for the energy transition in the Port – is it big oil companies, the Port Authority, the municipality, the State, or the invisible hand? A burning question in a city that’s simultaneously the “climate adaptation capital” and responsible for 20% of Dutch carbon dioxide emissions. Read here: https://lnkd.in/eeKt8P7R

#ClimateCrisis #SocialJustice #HumanRights 🙌 Something is wrong: It is the responsibility of nations leaders to safeguard their population from the negative impacts caused by fossil-fuel extraction. One way of NOT safeguarding us is subsidizing polluting fossil-fuel and related sectors and allowing them to continue their polluting activities.🙌 Something else is wrong:Pressing charges to peaceful climate activists who keep asking our government to stop subsiding those industries is wrong. #HumanRightsOfFutureGenerations #ClimateJustice #TheNetherlands

The energy transition is not only about implementing new energies, but in the meantime also about using less fossile fuels. IRO member XMILE produces a fuel additive that immediately saves 7% fuel. That impact is also seen in the UAE where they signed a big contract with the government. Well done Boudewijn en Miró Sanders ! #offshore #energy #energytransition

Phasing out fossil fuel subsidies is looking promising in the Netherlands! It is so important that circular economy and just transition are not overlooked.Because phasing out fossil fuel comes with an inevitable transition to renewable, bio-based, and circular materials and energy. Policy makers must address the current issues presented with these sustainable sources at the same time!

I don't see cooperation happening in practice if there is no revenue model. Many companies are, often, only focused on profit!! And now that nature is finally in the spotlight, they use it as a revenue model. Where were these important figures in the 1970s!! Then we were called goat wool sock figures and had to stand up as “warriors” for the drilling in the Wadden Sea, actions by Greenpeace, work at the bird watch, planting of entire residential areas with different principles (which now, given the revenue model) work in one go and the fieldwork for biology and ecological projects that are still in the archives of government institutions!! Why then did people on Schiermonnikoog avoid the market stall of the Waddenzee association? Why wasn't I allowed to wear a sweater with the logo of these environmental associations at school? And why is biodiversity in the Netherlands (EU) completely destroyed!! Do you think you can fix this in a few years with billions of citizens working hard? Think carefully and let your conscience speak this will take years. And tell the truth and not what politicians want to hear.
